Betty Ann Stephens Summerford

Betty Ann Stephens Summerford went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 27, 2011. She was born and raised in Decatur and graduated from Decatur High School in 1962. She also attended Andrews College in Cuthbert. She married Rev. Stuart Summerford in 1964 and served many churches at his side. Mrs. Summerford retired from Avon Products Distribution Center in Atlanta, after many years of service. She was active in her Sunday School classes at North Decatur United Methodist Church for many years, and more recently at Lilburn Alliance Church. She was also active in her prayer group, Red Hat Society, and Women of Woodbury. Betty Ann was loved and will be missed by her family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Stuart Summerford and their infant son; parents, Jane Ellen and Tillman Stephens; brother, Riley Stephens. Survivors include sister-in-law, Becky Stephens; nieces, Cindy Stephens, Jeanne Stephens Cary and Ashton; nephew, Rilo Stephens and Wanda; great niece, Elizabeth Stephens; great nephews, Stephen Cary and Kara, John Cary, Patrick Stephens; uncle, Robert Jenkins and Diane; many cousins and longtime best friend, JoAnn Blaylock. The funeral service will be held 3 PM, Wednesday, November 30, at Lilburn Alliance Church with Rev. Fred Hartley officiating. Mrs. Summerford will be in repose beginning at 2:30 PM and laid to rest at Decatur Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Decatur UMC, 1523 Church St, Decatur GA 30030 or Lilburn Alliance Church, 5915 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker GA 30084. The family will receive friends 4-8 Tuesday evening at A. S. Turner & Sons.
