Betty Jean Grisewood

Betty Jean Grisewood, 80, of Decatur passed away on October 9. Affectionately known as Woody, she was born on August 25, 1931 in Huntsville, AL to Lonnie and Lavern Jackson. After graduating from high school in Florida, Betty attended one year of college at University of Alabama. She started work in the civil branch of the Air Force. With the Air Force, she worked in Morocco and Japan. After returning to the U.S., she met and married her husband, Donald J. Grisewood in Reno, NV. After a move to Texas, the family located in Decatur, GA in 1970. Betty retired from the IRS in 1998. She continued to work in the family CPA firm. She has been very active in soccer programs for her children and grandchildren. Betty is survived by her husband Donald (Jake) Grisewood of Decatur & two children: Stacey Pickard of Stone Mountain and D.J. Grisewood of Tucker. She is also survived by five grandchildren and 3 nephews/nieces in Huntsville AL. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Boys Town. A visitation will be held at A.S. Turner and Sons, Decatur, at 1 pm on Saturday, October 15. A prayer service will be held at 3 pm.
