Betty Lou Clarke

October 14, 1939 — December 23, 2017

Betty Lou Davis Clarke died December 23, 2017. She was born in 1939 in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Louis S. and Hazel Bohannon Davis. She is survived by her loving husband Richard and her beloved daughter Sarah.
Betty Lou graduated from North Fulton High School and Emory University. She also earned graduate degrees at Emory and the University of Georgia. For 33 years she taught French at Briarcliff and Chamblee High Schools, where she made many friends among the students and faculty. She retired from the DeKalb County Schools and worked another 15 years for Weight Watchers. She volunteered with Girl Scouts, helping her daughter’s troop and also serving on the committee to evaluate scouts for the Gold Award. She volunteered as an interpreter during the 1996 Olympics. Betty Lou made many friends wherever she went.
Betty Lou loved to read, to play bridge, to birdwatch, and to travel. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
The family appreciates the kind care given by the staff at the Fountainview Center.

A memorial service is planned for Thursday, December 28 in the afternoon, time to be determined.
