Mrs. Betty Lou Grattan, age 84, of Decatur, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. She was preceded in death by her son, Fred Grattan. Mrs. Grattan is survived by her steadfast husband of 65 years, Robert Grattan; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Shirley Grattan of Grayson, GA and Charles and Nancy Grattan of Lawrenceville, GA; two grandchildren, Leslie Goebel of Atlanta, GA, wife of Adam Goebel, and Greg Grattan of Chicago, IL. The eldest of nine children, Betty was born in Shenandoah, Iowa and was raised in the farming community of Tarkio, Missouri. Several younger siblings currently reside in Missouri. A homemaker in Decatur, GA for most of her life, she was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren, Leslie and Greg. A gourmet cook, she attended cooking classes by Nathalie Dupree and Ursula. Celebrations of family events and holidays will not be the same without Betty’s loving touch. The family will hold a private memorial service. A. S. Turner & Sons, Decatur, GA is in charge of arrangements.
