Rachel Wyche of Atlanta passed away on Friday October 22, 2021. She was 93 and the youngest of 4 children, all born in Gay, Georgia to Lorena and Albert Wyche.
She was proceeded in death by her three siblings Joe Wyche, William Wyche, Martharene Shelley, and her oldest nephew Sam Wyche. She is survived by 8 nieces and nephews Bubba (Lindy) Wyche, Nancy (Sam Bell) Wyche, Bill (Holly) Wyche, Jan Wyche, Wynton Shelley, Linda (Tyrone) Hopper, Elaine (Ken) Whitmore, and Brenda Kaye Caldwell. She is also survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews whom she adored.
After completing graduation in Atlanta, she went directly to work for the federal government and was the first woman in the Atlanta regional office to be promoted to division budget director of the General Services Administration.
Rachel never married but was devoted to the care of her mother and many other relatives.
She was a woman of strong faith and was a member of the Druid Hills Baptist
Church and attended vespers at Kings Bridge in her later years.
Rachel loved to spend hours researching genealogy, doing crafts, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading, and playing most any game you could think of. She loved spending time with her family and the gatherings will not be the same without her.
Rachel was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A private graveside service will be held at Westview Cemetery
