Bevelyn Howard Hosch, age 94, of Decatur, Georgia, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and friend passed away on January 15, 2018. She was born August 5, 1923, in Atlanta Georgia, at Wesley Memorial Hospital, which is now Emory University Hospital. She was the daughter of Mary Olive Gunn Howard and Homer Hannah Howard.
Bevelyn was proud to have grown up in Decatur, Georgia, and was a graduate of Decatur Girls High. She attended the University of Georgia, and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. Bevelyn met William, her childhood sweetheart at the age of thirteen, and married him seven years later. During World War II, they lived in South Bend, Indiana, and San Diego, California, where William was stationed in the Navy. The rest of her life , she lived in Decatur, Georgia, where she was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Decatur. Bevelyn was a devout Christian with a strong faith. She enjoyed being a loving wife and mother and was an active member of the Decatur Junior League, and a dedicated volunteer with the American Red Cross. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bridge, reading, knitting, and walking six miles each day. After the death of her husband, Bevelyn moved to Clairmont Place , a residential community for seniors, in Decatur, Georgia, and lived independently amongst several of her grammar school friends. She dearly loved living at Clairmont Place, where she would play bridge and have dinner with her special friends.
Bevelyn is survived by her three daughters and their families: Candy Hosch Smith(Jim), Holly Hosch Willoughby, Helyn Hosch Kesler(Roger); 10 Grandchildren: Howard Smith(Julie), Andrew Smith(Traci), Carter Smith(Keri), Henry Lane, William Lane, Thomas Willoughby, Miles Willoughby(Ashley), Amy Anthony(Cory), Candace McKee(David), Stephen Kesler(Anya); 26 Greatgrandchildren, Katie, Addie ,Lollie and Hank Smith; Anna Claire, Drew, and Lila Smith; Hill, Brant and Elle Smith; Perry Campbell, Taylor Campbell; Emily, Hannah, and Jackson Lane; Anabelle, Caroline, Blake and Cole Willoughby; Ben, Jake, and Molly McKee; Reagan Anthony; Liam, Ethan, and Mason Willoughby; brother-in-law, George Center; nieces, nephews, and many more loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, of 54 years, William Hosch, her parents, her sisters, Lollie Cleveland(Gus), Jeanne Bishop(Stanley), her sister-in-law, Eleanor Hosch Center, her son-in-law, Tom Willoughby, and her grandson, Jimmy Smith.
A memorial service will be held, Thursday, January 18, 2018, at 11:00 am, at the First Baptist Church of Decatur. A private graveside service for family will be held earlier that day, at Decatur Cemetery. Visitation and reception will be held at the church, following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
