Beverly Knight Redfern

May 2, 1937 — July 27, 2019

Beverly Knight Redfern, age 82, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2019. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia on May 2, 1937 to Ted R. Knight and Evelyn W. Knight.

Beverly graduated from Murphy High School in 1955. She was captain of the cheerleading team and the basketball team.
She attended Georgia State University and worked as a bookkeeper, having learned the trade from her father who was a CPA.
She was employed by her sister, Evelyn A. Knight, M.D. for 15 years and also worked as a bookkeeper for her nephews, Jimmy Lee and Ted Fischer, at Engine Systems, Inc.

Beverly is survived by her sister, Marion Knight Fischer; her sons Gordon Wayne (Butch) Redfern, Jr., and wife Sandy and Rusty Redfern; twin daughters Penny and Peggy Redfern;
and grandchildren Katlyn, Kelsey and Spencer Redfern. Her sweet nieces and nephews include Jimmy Lee Fischer, Ted Fischer, Brittany Fischer, Paisley Fischer,
Randy, Susan and Teddy Knight, Deedee Peppers, Lolly, Rusty and PD Pregeant, Bridgette, Randy, Rebecca, and Tanner Holmes, Valerie Knight, Haley Knight, Lily Knight,
Jamie Knight, Wayon McElwaney, Sister-in-law Mary Redfearn, Kyle Redfearn, Jackson Redfearn, Regina Boone, Chase Landry, Meredith Landry,
Patti Agey, Scott Agey, Alison Slone, Gordon Keith Dobson, Larry Turner, Merrinelle Davis, Roslyn Gregory, Rob, Jack and Lee Anne Gregory, Janie Morris, Eden Morris,
Cole Morris, Trey Harrison, Greg Harrison, Blair Harrison, Jr., and many generations of Knight relatives in Cullman, Alabama.

Beverly was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Gordon Wayne Redfern in 2018. After his stroke in 1996, she was his
caretaker for 22 years. She never complained about counting his meds, feeding and dressing him, orchestrating his medical appointments and giving him
medication three times a day. She was LOVE IN ACTION.

Beverly used her organizational skills for many Murphy High School reunions and researching family genealogy. She was an avid Beanie Baby collector, stamp collector
and crossword puzzle queen. She was the first female little league coach for Penny and Peggy’s softball team. Her approach was assign a different player to make
the lineup each week. She figured the girls knew who should play where. The team was undefeated!

She loved parties. On Halloween, she dressed up as "Madame Lasagna” a fortune teller with hilarious results. She had a quick wit and an amazing vocabulary.
During a recent hospital stay, a speech therapist asked her to name animals that begin with the letter A.
She responded, “Aardvark, ant eater, antelope and Arabian horse." The therapist looked at Peggy and said, “I’ve never heard that reply in all my years of therapy!”

Her favorite song was “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

Beverly was larger than life and had a heart of gold. Like her father, Daddy Ted, she was "strong enough to be gentle, smart enough to be kind, and with enough love for all."
She will missed by her family and friends every single day.
