Billy Gibson Tyler passed away July 21, 2008. He was born in Monticello, Georgia on August 7, 1933. He was the only child of Herman Gibson Tyler and Jewel Holloway Tyler. Bill attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College from 1950-1952. He then attended University of Georgia graduating in 1954. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. Bill started his business career working as plant manager for Atlanta Dairies. He and his family then moved to Texas where he worked as Vice President for Braum's Ice Cream. Bill took the company from only nine store locations to over three hundred. After he left Braum's he went into business for himself and became a successful real estate investor and developer. In the last few years Bill enjoyed helping his children start their own businesses. Bill had an adventurer's spirit. He loved to travel and learned to fly an airplane. He flew to many places including South America. Most of all he loved deep sea fishing. He served as President of The Fort Walton Sailfish Club. He won numerous trophies while captaining his boat, "Tippecanoe". When Bill wasn't pulling fish from the sea he enjoyed shooting potatoes out to sea with his famous potato cannon. One of his favorite sayings was "Life don't get no better than this!" Bill will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Allan Hammond Tyler and Tina Watson Tyler, his daughter and son-in-law, Christine Tyler Hamilton and Henry Michael Hamilton, as well as his three grandchildren Zachary Tyler Hamilton, Adelyn Elizabeth Tyler and Eliza Anne Tyler Hamilton.
