Mrs. Bobbie June Smith, 90, of Avondale Estates, and formerly of Decatur, passed away Friday, September 20 at Manor Care Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Smith was born June 6, 1929, in Maynardville, Tennessee, daughter of the late Adam Grant Oaks and Gertrude “Gertie” Geneva Oaks. She was one of eleven, graduated valedictorian of her class, a legal secretary when she met “Honey” on a blind date. Bobbie retired from Sharian's after many years of service. She loved God, Bill “Honey”, family, people, birds (especially blue birds), dirt, flowers, trees, tomatoes, banana puddin’, hot weather, the hotter the better. Her favorite thing to do was to play in the dirt. She believed in family and friends, and loved unconditionally, but at the same time would keep you straight. Truly God’s gift to all that had the honor and privilege to know her. One of His angels here on earth who touched everyone’s heart.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Wade Vickery of Decatur; a daughter, Karen Smith of Decatur; grandchildren, Jessica and Dr. Chadwick Roberts of Ft Lauderdale, FL and Jeremiah Heeter of Atlanta; great grandchildren: Junior, Savannah, and Georgia Roberts Ft Lauderdale, FL; sister, Ruby Spencer of Knoxville, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
