Mrs. Bonita D. Hawes, 95, a long time resident of Atlanta .died Monday, July 20, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund T. Hawes. She attended Ouachita College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Mrs. Hawes is survived by her son, Bill Hawes of Tucker; daughter, Edna Hawes of Atlanta; 5 grandchildren, Christine, Kandi, Bonnie, Billy, Elizabeth; and 4 great grandchildren, Jack, Shani, Mackenzie and Addison. Per her wishes, she is being cremated and her ashes taken to New Bedford, MA to be laid to rest with her husband. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at A. S. Turner & Sons..
