Brenda "Cookie" Lee Cook Sweat

Brenda 'Cookie' Sweat, 67, of Scottdale, beloved wife and mother, passed away on September 1, 2016. Born January 11, 1949, in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Preston and Angie Lee Morgan Cook. Cookie was an avid member of Alcove Drive Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James Kenneth Sweat, Sr., daughter, Tammy Tabone and her husband, Michael; son Kenneth Sweat, Jr. and his wife, Francesca; grandchildren, Amanda, Danielle, Ashley, Nathaniel, Joshua, Ayden, and Nicolette; brothers, Jackie, Mike, and Curtis Cook; and her church family at Alcove Drive Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Cookie was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy; and brothers, Bobby and Grier.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, September 2, and from 2 - 4 p.m. Saturday, September 3, at A. S. Turner & Sons. Services will be held at 2:00 Sunday September 4, 2016, in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons, with David Sloan officiating, with interment to follow at Melwood Cemetery.
