Brigadier Carl Lee Noblitt, Salvation Army (retired), passed away on November 18, 2007 after a brief illness, one day short of his 98th birthday. He was born in Rutherford County, N.C. and entered the Salvation Army School for Officer Training in Atlanta in 1928. In a career that spanned more than 45 years, he was in charge of Salvation Army operations in various cities in North and South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky. He attended Georgia State University, where he pursued a degree in sociology.
He was married to Alma Mae Dixon of Atlanta in 1932. She shared his career as a Salvation Army officer and preceded him in death in 1990. After retiring from active duty in 1974, Brig. Noblitt continued to touch many lives as he served as a counselor for the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Atlanta.
He is survived by a son, Dr. Thomas L. Noblitt; two grandsons, Dr. Randall L. Noblitt and Alan S. Noblitt; two great grandchildren, Bryce R. Noblitt and Lauren B. Noblitt; and by a sister, Agnes Noblitt.
Services will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Salvation Army Temple Corps, 2090 North Druid Hills Road, N.E. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Westview Cemetery.
