Mr. C. W. Bartholomai, 93, of Atlanta passed away on Sunday February 15, 2015. He was born on November 2, 1921 in Terre Haute, IN the only child of Christian and Johanna Fontaine Bartholomai. He received his BS in 1942 and his MS in 1948, both from Purdue University. He went on to earn his MPH in 1952 from
the University of North Carolina. A resident of Atlanta since 1956, he was retired from the Federal Government as an entomologist. He retired as a Colonel in the Army Reserve, where he also was an entomologist. An Army veteran of WWII, he was a T/Sgt.in a malaria survey unit in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was married in 1953 to fellow MPH recipient, Emily Catherine Wade, who died at Orly Field in 1962. He remarried in 1966 to the late Vinita (Siegmeier) Pearson who died in 2003. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, the entomological Society of America, Masonic York and Scottish Rites, Purdue president's Council and Ag Dean's Club. He also was a member in the Carolina Bell Ringer's and several historical and genealogical organizations. A long time rail-fan, he belonged to several organizations and was a charter member of the Atlanta Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, where he was a former Director and Regional VP of the N.R.H.S. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm on Thursday February 19, 2015 at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer with Rev./Dr. Timothy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friend on Thursday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church. A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
