Mr. Carl Pomeroy Smith Jr., 95, of Atlanta Georgia, passed away peacefully June 5, 2021, surrounded by family and friends of Kingsbridge. Born in Hapeville Georgia April 1, 1926, to Carl Pomeroy Smith Sr. and Ludie Pye Smith. After graduating Hapeville High School in 1944, Carl served 2 years in the Navy. He went on to earn a degree in commercial art from the University of Georgia and was the first president of Phi Kappa Tau. Mr. Smith’s work included positions with Rich's, JM Tull and Precision Paint. Carl will be remembered as a people person, a loyal friend, the family photographer and an adventurous spirit willing to try anything once. His passions included snow skiing, woodworking and classical music. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 67 years Dorothy Queen Smith, daughter Connie Casey (Bill) and son Mike Smith (Robin) and grandchildren Michael (Rany) and Will Casey, great-grandson Dean and a host of loving relatives. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be shared in Carl's memory with Embry Hills UMC or Parkinsons.org. A funeral ceremony will be held at Embry Hills UMC in Chamblee on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at 11:00 AM. With a 10:00 AM Visitation. Followed by a 1:00 PM graveside at Westview Cemetery.
