Carl Thomas Kiplinger passed away on Sunday June 7, 2015. He grew up in Columbus, Ohio, the son of D. C. "Kip" Kiplinger ( a well-known professor of floriculture at the Ohio State University) and Thelma Davis Kiplinger, who gave him his dad's middle name, Carl.
Carl graduated from Upper Arlington High School, where he was active in the music program. He enjoyed performing in the choir and appearing in the chorus of school musicals, such as "My Fair Lady".
Carl earned a degree in business from Franklin University. During his career, he worked for the Dispatch Printing Company and Lazarus of Columbus, then several companies in Michigan. He joined Kroger Company in Decatur, Georgia, where he spent many years.
In retirement, he divided his time between travel and caring for his cats. He visited Berlin, Vienna and Hawaii multiple times, as well as Columbus to visit his mother until her death in 2006, and his surviving and only sibling, Janet Kiplinger Ciccone, spouse, Dana and their son, David.
In addition to his sister, Carl is survived by his cousins on his mother's side, Robert (Pam) Dawson of Defiance, Ohio and John (Shirley) and their many children. In lieu of flowers, Carl would appreciate donations to the cat shelter, FurKids of Atlanta, from where he adopted some of his cats (if they weren't strays from the Kroger dumpster of from the street).
