Carla Graves Christian, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away in her home in Johns Creek, Georgia, on August 23, 2023. Born in Lexington, Kentucky on September 24, 1956, Carla lived a life of service and dedication, touching countless people with her kindness, grace, and unwavering spirit. Her departure leaves a void that will never be filled, but her legacy will continue to inspire and motivate all who had the privilege to know her. Raised by her loving parents, Robert (deceased) and Lille Graves, Carla's upbringing was rooted in faith and family. Upon graduating from Lafayette High School in 1974, dear friends Ray and Margery Pierson advised her to pursue pharmacy. Carla was then a proud Big-Blue alumna of The University of Kentucky School of Pharmacy in 1980. Always wanting to help other people, Carla's professional journey was as diverse as it was impactful. From hospital, retail, and HMO positions to directing the pharmacy at Naval Air Station Atlanta, her influence was far-reaching. The highlight of her career was her time at Pavilion Compounding Pharmacy, where she worked with physicians to help advance holistic treatment options, making a difference in the lives of many.
She was a devoted loving mother to her precious daughter Emily, a supportive sister to Jeff Graves and Gayle McCann, and a respected aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Her bond with her ex-husband, Ben Christian, retired long-term Southern Company employee, remained strong - a testament to her forgiving and understanding nature. Carla's love for her family extended to her three beloved dogs: Miley, a beagle who has been by her side for 16 years, Chloe, a golden retriever, and Charlie, a mixed breed. Carla found peace in her garden, where she nurtured plants with the same care and attention she bestowed upon people. She enjoyed pickleball and more than anything loved spending time with her beloved daughter and dogs, cherishing the simple, heartfelt moments of togetherness. She was a devout follower of the Lord; her faith was unwavering, as reflected in her life as a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Carla found comfort and inspiration in Christian music, always tuning into The Fish Radio, letting the uplifting melodies fill her soul. Some notable favorites included:
- God Only Knows - King & Country with Dolly Parton
- Brighter Days - Blessing Offor
- I Can Only Imagine - MercyMe
- The Proof of Your Love - King & Country
- Praise You In This Storm - Casting Crowns
- Christ In Me - Jeremy Camp
- You Are The Reason - Calum Scott
Carla was not just a woman; she was a force of nature, a powerhouse of love and compassion. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, resilience, and positive thinking. She believed in the strength of kindness and lived her life accordingly, always ready to lend a helping hand, offer a word of encouragement, or share a warm smile. Her spirit was infectious, her courage inspirational.
Carla Graves Christian will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Let us celebrate her life and honor her memory by living as she did - with kindness, courage, and an unshakeable faith. Let her life be a beacon guiding us through our own journeys, reminding us to cherish every moment, to love unconditionally, and to serve selflessly. Thank you, Carla, for your light, your love, and your legacy. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on, inspiring us, motivating us, and reminding us of the power of a faithful life; we will see you again in the glorious light of Heaven.
