Carol Ann Hawkins

Carol Ann Herod Hawkins aged 81, passed on December 3, 2018. Carol was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 5, 1937 to her parents, Dewey Layton Herod and Velma Harris Herod. Carol married the love of her life, David “Jack” Hawkins in 1955. They were married for 60 years, until his death in February of 2017. Jack and Carol had 3 wonderful children, David Hawkins, III (Debbie), Sharon Hawkins Estenoz (Peter), and Layton Wade Hawkins.

Carol was a homemaker, mother, and wife for the large part of her life, but also held various smaller jobs. She loved art, especially drawing, had a knack for working crossword puzzles, and enjoyed watching movies and studying the Bible. After she retired, Carol had time to enjoy travelling and spending time with her friends. Carol was always a friend to anyone who came near her, and never met a stranger. She also loved being a grandmother to her 6 grandchildren: Rebecca Voss, Krista Hawkins, Amanda Bonney, Bobby McNally, Patrick McNally, Michael McNally; and her 4 great-grandchildren.

Carol was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jack; her parents, Dewey and Velma; and 3 siblings: Pauline McMahan, Ronald Dewey Herod, and Winifred Copeland.

Carol is survived by her 3 children: David, Sharon, and Wade; her 6 grandchildren, her 4 great-grandchildren, and her siblings: Marjorie Fuller, Norma Lackey, and Melvin “Gus” Herod.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, December 8th, 2018 at 3:00 PM, located at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3346 Rockbridge Road SW, Avondale Estates, Georgia 30002.
