Carol Siegmann

August 3, 1936 — July 24, 2022

Carol Cobb Siegmann, 85, passed peacefully into her Saviors loving arms on Sunday, July 24, 2022. She was born August 3, 1936, an only child of Lewis Connell and Sara Almon Cobb from Dekalb County, Georgia.

She attended Decatur High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics at Mercer University (Macon.) To advance in her studies, she earned a Master’s Degree at the University of South Carolina, where she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Siegmann. They married soon after graduation in 1962. As newlyweds, they moved back to Atlanta to start a family and career. In 1968, soon after buying their first home together, they joined Clairmont Presbyterian Church. Carol and Bob quickly fell in love with the people, sound teaching, and Christ-centered worship. For many years, Carol sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and led one-on-one Bible studies with other ladies.

Carol and Bob had three children: Rick, Lynn, and Don. She was a stay-at-home mother fully devoted to her family. When her youngest child was 9 years old, she began teaching Mathematics at Georgia State University. She poured out her heart and soul, even giving out her home number to the students so they could call if they ever had questions. After 7 years at GSU, in 1986, she transferred to Dekalb College (Georgia Perimeter College) to continue teaching Mathematics until retiring in 2001.

Carol was incredibly grateful for her personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the certainty of her eternal future in His kingdom. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family. She loved to laugh and was always available to listen. She was incredibly grateful to anyone who was serving her, including the nurses who tended to her on her final day. Her gifts were an outpouring of an abundant life. The first words Carol heard when she entered heaven were, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much.” (Matthew 25:23)

She is survived by her husband, Bob, of 60 years, sons, Rick and Don Siegmann, daughter, Lynn Harding (David), grandchildren, Lindsey Hutchinson (Sam) and Sarah Muscarella (TJ), sister-in-law, Marlene Watts, and many cousins and extended family.

There will be a celebration of life service at Clairmont Presbyterian Church, Saturday, July 30, at 11:30 a.m., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, consider giving a donation to Clairmont Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
