Carolyn Ophelia Ellison

August 17, 1956 — August 12, 2018

When your season comes: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

A Time to be Born:

Carolyn Ophelia Ellison was born Carolyn Ophelia Scott on Friday, August 17, 1956 in Atlanta, GA to Mrs. Mary Phillips and the late Mr. Square Moore. She was the 6th born of eight siblings: Mary Jean, Bertha Sue, Eugene, Linda, James, Estella and Jessie

A Time to Die:

Carolyn answered God’s call and peacefully departed this earthly life on Sunday, August 12, 2018 while in the care of her loving husband. She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Square Moore, her brother Mr. Eugene Scott, and two of her precious children; her daughter, Lakesheuna Ellison and her son, Steven Lavern Ellison

A Time to Plant:

Carolyn was a faithful Christian and began her walk with God in June of 1990. Though her body grew weak and her physical voice quieted, she was a soldier for Christ and continued her Christian duties until the end. She used the social media platform (Facebook Instagram and texting) to continue to spread God’s message of Peace, Hope and Love to family and friends. Carolyn surrendered her life to God a long time ago and she knew that He would take care of her family. Her unwavering faith allowed her to transition with peace and serenity.

A Time to Build Up:

Carolyn was educated in the Atlanta Public School System. In her early years, she was a loving wife and mother committed to her family’s well-being. Over the past 20 years, she worked as a Food Services Professional in the DeKalb County School System until her untimely death. She joined the Philadelphia Church of God in Christ in 1990 under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Edna .W Hill where she joined the choir. When she was too weak to travel, she attended Philadelphia Church of Brotherly Love under the pastoral leadership of Elisha Paggett.

A Time to Love:

It is without question that God is Carolyn’s first true love.

At the tender age of 15, she was blessed to be united in friendship with the love of her life Mr. Eddie Laverne Ellison. Since they could not be separated in childhood, they were united in marriage on May 15, 1992. To this union, they were blessed with 5 beautiful children; four daughters and one son. Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Moreover, Carolyn loved the Lord. During bible study or in general conversations, she would often say, Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

A Time to Mourn:

Carolyn leaves to cherish and celebrate her precious memories, her loving and devoted husband and friend of 46 years, Mr. Eddie Ellison of Stone Mountain, Georgia, three daughters, Mrs. Sherice Collins (Timothy), Ms. Tamara Ellison (David), Ms. Carla Ellison (Tarrance), her mother, Mrs. Mary Phillips of Rembert, South Carolina, eight siblings, Mary Jean Early of Rembert ,South Carolina,; Bertha Sue Clonts of Decatur, Georgia; Eugene Scott (deceased); Linda S.
