YATES, Carolyn Deal ?

Carolyn Elizabeth ?Betty? Yates, 77, of Lilburn, Georgia passed away October 6, 2005. Betty was born November 2, 1927 in Asheville, North Carolina to Charles Edward and Elizabeth (Alexander) Deal. She married James Turner Yates of Kannapolis, North Carolina on September 25, 1947 in Swannanoa, North Carolina. They were married for 39 years until his death January 30, 1986. Betty will be laid to rest beside her husband at Piney Grove Presbyterian Church in Swannanoa, North Carolina. Betty is survived by three children, Sara Lynne (Yates) Gheesling of Lilburn, Georgia, Mary Carolyn Yates of Manitou Springs, Colorado, and James Edward Yates of Clarkesville, Georgia; four grandchildren, Sara Nicole (12) and Adam Joseph Gheesling (4), Mark Edward Yates and Carol (Yates) Goetschl; and one sister, Mary Deal Garner of Swannanoa, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the American Heart Association. Arrangements handled by Miller Funeral Home, Black Mountain, North Carolina and A. S. Turner & Sons, Decatur, GA.
