Carter Samuel Martin, age 7, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 12, 2004. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November, 20, 1996. Carter fought a long and courageous 2-year battle against Ewing?s Sarcoma bone cancer. He is now, and will forever be, cancer-free. In his 7 short, earthly years he touched the lives of all he met. He was a patient at Children?s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston where he won the hearts of doctors and nurses with his sweet, caring heart and his baby blue eyes. He was a second grade student at Providence Christian Academy and a member of Briarlake Baptist Church. Carter loved soccer, baseball, football, camping, fishing, collecting Pokemon cards, and being with his 4 best friends, Grant, Drew, Peyton, and Steven. He had a natural talent for art and his work is represented in the AFLAC 2004 calendar for the month of September. He loved all animals, especially his two dogs, Lucky and Comet. He had an incredible bond with his 9 year old brother, Candler. He was passionate about cheering for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Carter is survived by his parents, Scott and Leigh Ann Martin, and brother, Candler; paternal grandparents, Jon and Merrilee Martin of Atlanta, GA; maternal grandparents, Bert & Mary Herrin of Savannah, GA; great grandmothers, Margo Foote of Atlanta, GA, Perri Grumish of Savannah, GA, and Allie McDonald of Savannah, GA; aunt Laura Herrin of Savannah, GA; aunt Joni Martin of Chattanooga, TN; aunt Wendy and uncle Jay Blackwell of Alexandria, VA; aunt Amy and uncle Michael Garcia of Atlanta, GA; and cousins, Luke & Benjamin Blackwell, and Joseph Garcia.
