Cathryn Clark Powledge, 84, of Decatur passed away Saturday, September 29, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard. M. "Jack" Powledge, Jr. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Mike Cathcart of Lawrenceville, Cathy and Paul Cooper of Marietta; her sons, Millard Powledge of Lilburn and Robert Powledge of Decatur; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Cathryn was born in Golden City, MO., daughter to the late Flossie Mitchell and Harley B. Clark. She retired from U.S. Government Service after 20 years. She was an accomplished pianist and vocalist and sang often with many choirs around Atlanta, including the choir at St. Philips Cathedral, where she attended church. She will be lovingly remembered by her family for her diligence as a wife and mother, her dedication as a provider and her love of gardens, music and the arts. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Fernbank Science Center, specifically for the Robert L. Staton Memorial Rose Garden, 767 Clifton Rd, N.E., Atlanta, GA 30307. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 2nd in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. A graveside service will be at 11:00 A. M. (CT) Wednesday, October 3rd at Rosemere Cemetery in Opelika, AL. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
