Charles Butler (C.B.) Sharpton, Jr., 85, died November 3, 2008 in Baton Rouge, LA. He was born in Ninety Six, SC to the late Charles and Nettie Bozard Sharpton. Mr. Sharpton served in World War II as a Technical Sergeant in the Army Air Corps 97th Bomb Group. He graduated from Clinton High School and earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Carolina in 1947. A long-term resident of Atlanta, he was a Project Engineer for Union Camp Corporation for over forty years and directed construction projects worldwide. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret Johnson Sharpton, three sons, Charles B. Sharpton, III (Judy) of Savannah, GA, William R. Sharpton (Richard Jensen) of New Orleans, LA, and Robert L. Sharpton (Ruby) of Bainbridge, GA, four grandchildren, Mary Ann Blackstone, Mary Margaret Schmidt, Valerie Eidson, and Lee Sharpton, three great-grandchildren and three sisters, Virginia Rowe of Belton, SC, Miriam Miller of Lancaster, SC and Barbara Williams of Columbia, SC. Mr. Sharpton was predeceased by one son, Steven Barry Sharpton , two sisters, Bea Huettig and Ruth Hughes, and one brother, William Sharpton.
