Charles Drew Heidler

Mr. Charles Drew Heidler, 87, died Thursday, May 15, 2008.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann Neidlinger Heidler; daughters, Donna Barrett and husband Rick of Atlanta, and Janet Heidler of Decatur; and grandchildren, Grace and Harrison Barrett.  Mr. Heidler, a proud native Atlantan grew up in Druid Hills, where he attended Druid Hills High School.  He was a member of the Governor's Horse Guard and was a graduate of Georgia Tech.  Mr. Heidler served as a major in the Eighth Air Corps during World War II.  He was an avid Steam Train enthusiast and was a member of the National Railway Historical Society.   Funeral services will be held Monday, May 19th at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Susan Bennett officiating.  Interment at Decatur Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to PAWS Atlanta, 5287 Covington Hwy., Decatur, GA  30035.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
