On May 10, 2023, in Decatur, Georgia, Charles Earl Brown USMC, ascended joining the ancestors. He was born on American Independence Day, July 4th 1952 in New Orleans, Louisiana, a common man with an uncommon heart.
He was first a son
He was a brother
He was a father
He was a grandfather
He was an uncle
He was a friend
He always seemed to want to fix something that couldn't be fixed. He gave all that he had to the world and still it wasn't enough.
He would embrace you in his life and let you freely leave. Should you ever want to return he was there with open arms, like you never left. He was like the Sun; it could be freezing and Charles could make you warm.
He was a Marine. He fought many battles, he only experienced defeat in the battle that's never won.
Charles is predeceased by his daughter Deidra Brown, brother Louis Brown Jr., mother Johnnie Brown (Moore), and father Louis Brown Sr.
He is survived by:
His son Taja Cooks, daughter Tamera Jackson, grandson Tumaini Cooks, stepdaughter Tarian Jackson-Wood, stepsons Tyran, Taj, and Tamer Jackson, brothers Melvin and Odell Brown, former wife Debra Johnson, as well as many close family and friends.
A.S. Turner & Sons held a viewing before Mr. Brown was laid to rest on 05/24/2023 at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana with full military honors.
The family thanks everyone who cared for our beloved Charles "Bird" Brown in life and in his ascension.
