Charles H. "Charlie" Foster, Jr., 85 of Stone Mountain, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012. Building, gardening and tinkering were his life long passions, along with the joy of life and family. There was not a bronze, intricate porcelain, piece of furniture or artwork if found broken he could not restore to original condition, if not better. Building was his livelihood. He followed his father into the construction industry and founded Foster & Company General Contractors in 1963. Immediately following, he joined the Associated General Contractors of GA, where he spent many hours working for the betterment of the construction industry. He served on the board of directors and was elected AGC President in 1976 for a 1 year term. He was the recipient of the AGC's Skill, Integrity and Responsibility (SIR) Award in 1993. He was also a national life director for AGC of America. Charlie is survived by his wonderful wife of 65 years, Mildred; sons, Randy (and Cindy) Foster and David (and Brenda) Foster; daughter, Cindy (and Johnny) Ricks; 6 grandchildren and their spouses; and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons on Tuesday, May 29th at 2:00 PM. Interment, Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday before the service from 12 to 2 PM at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home, Decatur.
