Mr. Charles Howard Murr, “Charlie”, age 92 of Atlanta, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, died May 1st in McDonough, GA. His wife of 62 years Anne preceded him in death in February. He was a graduate of the University Of Alabama School Of Engineering, and a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. He loved college football, always rooting for the Crimson Tide. During WWII, he worked for Edison/GE; he later worked for Exide Storage Battery Co., and was transferred to Atlanta as Regional Manager in the mid sixties. After working many years there, he was employed for numerous years at Neal Pope Ford as Plant Engineer, where he retired. In later years until death, he owned and operated a blade sharpening/retoothing business from his home, and had many customers that were also his friends. He was also a former Eagle Scout as well as a 32nd degree Mason, who had been active in the Shriner’s division. He was a 25 year colon cancer survivor, and participated in an experimental drug trial which greatly prolonged his years. Charlie loved most animals, especially dogs. He is survived by two grown children, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the U.S. He will be sorely missed. A.
