Charles J. Smith, Jr., 74, of Stone Mountain, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at DeKalb Medical Center. Born April 4, 1943, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Charles John Smith and Virginia Carrico Smith. He attended Druid Hills High School before graduating from the University of Georgia in 1971. He settled in Stone Mountain, Georgia, in 1975 where he raised his family. Charlie was in sales for most of his life and enjoyed seeing many different parts of the world through his work. His wit and caring earned him many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Marion Godwin Smith; daughter, Lesley Smith Bartlett, and her husband, John; grandchildren, Lily, Sasha and Vincent Bartlett; brother, James Carrico Smith; and many more family and friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 11:00 am until the service at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22 at noon in the chapel of the funeral home. A reception will immediately follow. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to a charity of your choice.
