Charles Joseph Carpenter

December 13, 1938 — March 31, 2024

Charles "Chuck" Carpenter, 85, passed away on March 31, 2024, in Tucker, GA surrounded by his loving family.

Chuck is survived by his wife Yolanda (née Asencios) of 53 years, son Kevin (Judy), daughter Kristen, brother Frank (Barbara) Carpenter, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Chuck was a loving husband, father and friend to everyone.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Alicia Carpenter, his brothers Edward (Linda) and James (Phyllis Moore) Carpenter, and his sister Joan (Tom) Carstens.

Chuck was born on December 13, 1938 in Chicago, IL, to Edward and Alicia Carpenter.

He graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School in Chicago, IL and earned a bachelor's degree from St. Norbert's College. His nearly 60-year career began in insurance, before transitioning to information management and records imaging.

Chuck married the love of his life, Yolanda, on April 4th, 1970 in Atlanta, GA. Their shared faith, humor and devotion to each other carried them through 53 years of marriage. They especially enjoyed laughing together, and Chuck could always be counted on to crack a funny joke to lighten any situation. They loved to travel together and enjoyed seeing beautiful sites throughout Hilton Head, Peru, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. Chuck was happiest near the ocean and immensely enjoyed the water and sun.

Chuck adored the many dogs in his life, and especially loved Delfina - the pointer dog that did not point. His most recent dog, Finnegan, was always glued to his side. He loved being outside and working in his yard and had a special gift for expertly trimming the hedges in front of the house.

Chuck was also a devoted and passionate fan of the Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, Green Bay Packers, and Georgia Tech Football and Basketball. In his teenage years, he spent many afternoons ushering at Chicago sports venues, which provided him with many colorful anecdotes of fan misbehavior.

Chuck will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
