Charles Loren Mclarty

Mr. Charles Loren McLarty, 79, of Decatur died Saturday, March 28, 2009.  He served his country in the Georgia National Guard and was called to active duty during the war in Korea. Mr. McLarty was owner of Charles L. McLarty Company for 34 years, selling fire fighting equipment throughout the Southeast.  He was a Mason and a member of The Yaarab Temple, Scottish Rite and Royal Order of Jesters. Mr. McLarty was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vivian Jernigan, and son, Lawrence Scott McLarty.  Mr. McLarty is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Scott McLarty; daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Fritz Miller of Winston Salem, NC; grandchildren, Ginny Miller of the U. S. Air Force, Charlie Miller of the U. S. Navy, and Genevieve Miller of Winston Salem, NC.   Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Monday, March 30th in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Julie Pennington-Russell officiating.  Interment will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in the memory of Charles Loren McLarty to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital or the First Baptist Church of Decatur.  The family will receive friends from 3 – 5PM Sunday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
