Charles Michael Pitts, 70, of Avondale Estates lost his long, courageous battle with cancer on June 29, 2017. Michael was born in Evergreen, Alabama, April 24, 1947, son of Mary Lena Foreman Pitts and Charles Hiram Pitts. The family moved to Georgia in 1950. Michael served in the United States Air Force 1966-1970. He served in Vietnam from 1968-1969. He was stationed in DaNang and PhanRang. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He loved history, of any kind, airplanes, old cars, music and an avid watcher of How it’s Made. He will be remembered for his hard work, kind heart and forever gentle soul. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy White Pitts, daughter Michelle Pitts Bartoo and grandson Gavin Michael Bartoo, of Highland Village, TX. Mother in law, Betty Mae White of Loganville, GA. Brother, William F Pitts, and his wife Michelle, and family of Columbia, SC. Sister, Barbara Pitts Guerrucci and her husband, Enzo and family of Conyers, GA. Brother in law, Robert A. White, and wife Cathleen, and family of Braselton, GA. Brother in law, Kenneth E White, and his wife, Susan and family of Jacksonville, FLA. Sister in Law, Linda White Bobo, and husband Steve and family of Loganville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 3, 2017 at 1:00pm at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Decatur, GA with Rev. Pat Earl officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at A.S. Turner and Sons Decatur, GA. Charles will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
