CHARLES NELSON OHL, 72, resident of Decatur, Georgia, went to Eternity peacefully on Veteran's Day- November 11, 2014 in Hospice Care, (with his loving wife holding his hand) from pneumonia and other consequences of a back fracture. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on July 12, 1942. The son of Frederick & Helen Ohl, Charles moved with his family to Decatur in 1951 and returned to reside there. Charles is survived by his wife of 19 years, Connie (Cornelia) Graff Ohl; his brother, Jim (James F.) Ohl; his sister, Susie (Mary Susan) Lalor; and by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Charles served our Country honorably as a Hospital Corpsman on the U.S.S. Repose during the Vietnam Campaign. Music was Charles' first language, and he served in many choirs from the age of 9. Charles sang under Fletcher Wolf at the Atlanta Boys' Choir, as well as in numerous metro Atlanta choral guilds, and principally at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Philip, Church of Our Saviour in Atlanta, Ga, and St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Dunwoody, Ga. Charles was an avid gardener and fisherman and lover of English Springer Spaniels, and of his last wonderful companion, Banjo, his beagle. Charles spent his last years evangelizing for Christ at Metanoia Ministries, Decatur, Ga., and everywhere else he went on his earthly journey. A Requiem Mass will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 11 am. at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Dunwoody, Georgia, with interment afterwards at the Ohl Family Grave in the Decatur Cemetery.
