Charles Rudolph Armour

March 17, 1929 — June 21, 2014

Charles Rudolph Armour, Jr., 85, of Buford, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014. He was a 1951 graduate of GA Tech and was the chairman and founder of Armour, Cape and Pond, Inc. He served as President of the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers and was on the board of the National Council of Engineering Examiners for several years. He was also a member of the Georgia Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Mr. Armour was a Deacon at 1st Baptist Church of Avondale, sang in the choir and was a volunteer bus driver for senior adults. He was very active in the Park Springs Community and donated time renovating homeless shelters. He was preceded in death by sisters, Peggy Bicknell and Gail Adams, and is survived by his wife, Jean Armour; sons, Michael David Armour (Jerrie) and Charles Phillip Armour (Jamie); daughter, Patti Armour DuMestre; grandchildren, Greg Swinks (Debbie), Amanda Yonts ( Danny), Carrie Duracher (Farris), Carol Hilley, Matthew Hilley (Sunday), Megan Armour, Anne Armour and C.J. Armour; and 9 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 3:30 PM. Inurnment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
