Charlie Sirmans

Charlie Sirmans, 84, of Atlanta, died March 24, 2005. Charlie was born and raised on a farm in Lakeland, Ga. He moved to Atlanta to attend business school before joining the U. S. Army. Staff Sergeant Sirmans became a medic and served in the European Theater. Charlie loved people and his gentle spirit was a comfort to many. Upon returning to the U.S. he became an accountant and met Sara who he loved dearly for 57 years. He was adored by his daughter Charlyn and his granddaughter Katherine. Charlie's sense of humor served him well in business and in community work. He enjoyed working and considered his business partners and clients as family. As a member of the Laurel Ridge Lions Club, he enjoyed the company of many friends while raising money to support community projects. Charlie loved life and doing things for others. He would always say how lucky he was to have lived such a wonderful life. He is survived by his wife, Sara Sirmans; daughter, Charlyn Sirmans and her husband Steve Hogben; granddaughter Katherine Culver, all of Atlanta. He will be missed by his sisters, Marie Corbitt and Lucile Smith of Lakeland, GA, and Maxine Fender of Savannah; nieces and nephews; and many good friends and neighbors. His memorial service will be at A.S. Turner & Sons in Decatur on March 28th at 3:00. Family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 until the time of the service. Instead of flowers Charlie wanted contributions made to the GA Lions Lighthouse for the Blind, payable to Laurel Ridge Lions Club, 3625 Castle Rock Way, Tucker, GA 30084. A. S. Turner & Sons
