Charlotte Louise Brunauer, 98, passed away Monday, May 11th 2020 in Alpharetta, Georgia. She was born on June 17th, 1921 to Ethel and Henry Lloyd in Avondale Estates, Georgia but spent the majority of 96 years in Decatur. She attended Avondale High school and Draughon's business school and worked for several companies before retiring from Southern Pulpwood Conservation Association where she was the office manager. She met her husband Joe from Detroit, Michigan at a USO dance and they were dance partners for 42 years until his untimely death at 72. After returning from Camp Crowder where Joe was in the Army they settled on Oldfield Road in Decatur. In 1956 they moved to Dunaire where they enjoyed a life full of friends and activities.
Charlotte loved to dance. She was also active in the Garden Club, Church Circle and various neighborhood activities however, her main passion was Bridge and everyone she played with knew she was good. At one time she belonged to 7 clubs! Her sweet, charming Southern personality won her many , many friends that she treasured. Her fashion sense was impeccable and people always commented that she was always so "put together".
Her greatest love was her church. She attended Memorial Presbyterian Church for 60 years where she taught Sunday school and was Treasurer of the Women of the Church for many years. She loved her Minister George Tatro, who held the graveside service at Decatur cemetery Friday, May 15th.
She is survived by her Daughter Marilyn and Son-In-Law Jeff Smalley of Canton, Georgia, a Sister-In-Law and several Nieces and Nephews. If you would like to celebrate her life you can send donations to Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church.
