Charlotte Ray Jackson passed on December 18, 2019 at the age of 73 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.
Charlotte was born in Nashville, TN on November 23, 1946. After several years in Alabama, the family settled in Clarkston, GA. She graduated from Clarkston High School in 1964 and then was in the first graduating class at DeKalb Junior College. She went on to the University of GA graduating with Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Specialist degrees.
Charlotte taught math in DeKalb County Schools until her retirement in 2001. She also spent 12 summers teaching in the Governor’s Honors Program in Valdosta, GA. Having been on the leading edge of using computers in education, she taught classes to educators and supported GHP students with projects.
A long-time resident of Clarkston, GA, Charlotte moved to Big Canoe, GA for retirement then to Tucker, GA in 2014. She was an active member of Clarkston United Methodist Church and Big Canoe Chapel where she belonged to the Women’s Guild, Quilting Club, and choir.
Charlotte was passionate about traveling, quilting and was a fan of the UGA football team. She generously shared these loves with her family and friends. Season tickets, vacations, and handmade quilts were cherished gifts she gave.
Charlotte is predeceased by her parents, Ray and Roberta Jackson, and her brother, Joe David Jackson. She is survived by her brother and his wife, James and Lucy Jackson; sister and her husband, Lynn J. and Mike Simpson; sister-in-law, Margaret Lacy; 7 nieces and nephews, and 6 grandnephews.
