THOMPSON, Charlotte
After bravely battling complicated health issues for over a year, Charlotte finally found her peace on Thursday, January 19, 2006. Charlotte was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1929 and it was there that she met and later married her sweetheart, Chuck Thompson in 1949. After living in several different locations, including Sweden, the family ended up moving to Atlanta in 1961. The northern girl developed a southern accent within two weeks. Charlotte was a full time mom and homemaker who gave her kids and husband a warm and wonderful home where all felt welcome. While doing all of that, she devoted years to helping the Republican party establish a foothold in Georgia. Later in life, she enjoyed helping to care for her two grandchildren and participating in life at Shallowford Presbyterian Church. She will be missed by all, including her immediate family, her husband of 56 years, Chuck Thompson; children, Mark Thompson and Lynn Burns; grandchildren, Amanda and Billy Burns; sister, Norma Goff; and her beloved dog, Cookie. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at A. S. Turner & Sons. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 23rd, at Shallowford Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Gray Norsworthy officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to No More Homeless 404-292-4122.
