Virginia Demarest DeBrosse (Ginger) is sad to report the loss of her mother, Charlotte Virginia Mann Demarest, 81, of Covington, GA. Mrs. Demarest went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 7 2010, after losing her battle with cancer. She was born November 16, 1928, the daughter of Hunter Merrill and Elizabeth Moore Mann. She was the oldest of 3 siblings. On September 1, 1947, she married Livingston Miller Demarest, who went before her to be with our Lord. Mrs. Demarest was also preceded in death by their sons, Robert and Rusty Demarest. Mrs. Demarest is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Nelson DeBrosse; five grandchildren, Rebecca and David Strickland, Dave and Kristin Curylo, Rob Curylo, Kate and Lyle Lastinger, James Demarest; three great-grandchildren, Grace and Julia Strickland and Jack Demarest; brothers and their wives Hunter and Paula Mann and Edward and Mary Ann Mann; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted family and church friends. Mrs. Demarest was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as an accomplished musician. She served Jesus and her church all of her life with her musical gifts and abilities as a soloist, choir director, organist, and pianist and church secretary. She gave of her talents at numerous churches in the Atlanta area including St. John’s Methodist, Georgia Avenue Presbyterian, Wee Kirk Presbyterian Church, Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Westminster Presbyterian Church, and Buford Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church on May 8, 2010 with visitation immediately prior at 1 PM. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Her son-in-law and pastor, Reverend Nelson DeBrosse will officiate. The family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
