Mrs. Cheryl (Cherie) Tennell Watson, 52, of Decatur died Friday, September 18, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. Mrs. Watson was born in Euclid, Ohio and moved to Tucker, Georgia at age 11. She graduated from Tucker High School and Emory University. Mrs. Watson worked as a nurse at Emory University Hospital for over 20 years. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, where she was a devoted Scout Leader for Pack 577 and Troop 77 for 20 years. Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her father, Glenn L. Tennell, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Craig Watson; sons, Chase and Colton Watson, all of Decatur, GA; mother and step father, Edna Tennell McCort and her husband Thomas of Akron, OH; sisters, Mary Ellen Leviton of Lilburn, GA, Susan Milner of Woodstock, GA, Nancy Duncan of Paramus, NJ, Judy Tennell of Tucker, GA and Evelyn McCort of Colorado Springs, CO; brother, G.L. “Buddy” Tennell of Buford, GA; and nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Louis Miller and Rev. David Hicks officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Little Creek Farm Conservancy, where she enjoyed riding and caring for horses, P.O. Box 33862, Decatur, GA 30033. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at A. S. Turner & Sons.
