Chris Maduros, age 92, of Atlanta passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Born to Greek immigrant parents, Panayiota Simopoulos and Peter Maduros on January 11, 1925. Chris attended Boys High and was a proud veteran of WWII. He received a Purple Heart. Upon returning from his military duty he worked in the family business which was Pete's Hat Shop in Buckhead. While attending a funeral in Minneapolis, Mn he met his future wife, Matina and was married for 56 years. He loved family, cars, and music. He was a mechanic by trade however he also enjoyed having his own business ventures including Peachtree Sandwich Shop and Decatur Furniture Mart. He loved to share his stories about his childhood and his war experiences. The last 2 ½ years of his life he was a resident of Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville, where he entertained other veterans, nurses and staff with his singing. He loved being with people.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Matina Maduros and his siblings Stella Zakas, Magdeline Vlass, Pete Maduros, Mary Ann Davis and George Maduros. He is survived by his son Peter Maduros, his daughter-in-law Cielo and granddaughter Isabella, daughter Mary Coulter, son-in-law Jeff and grandsons Brian and Jimmy.
Visitation for friends and family will be at A. S. Turner & Sons in Decatur, Ga on Sunday, February 26th from 3 to 5 pm with a prayer service beginning at 5 pm. The funeral service will be at Greek Orthodox Cathedral on Clairmont Rd on Monday, February 27th at 12 pm. Interment will be at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Mary and Jeff Coulter at 1231 Peach Blossom Ct, Lawrenceville on Monday February 27th at 3 pm immediately following the interment.
