Mrs. Christina Long Poulos, 75, died Saturday, November 26, 2005, of heart failure. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Pete J. Poulos; sons, John Dana Poulos and his wife Pam, Jimmy Poulos and his wife Joni; daughter, Lisa Ann Williams; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. Mrs. Poulos was born in Athens, Alabama, but lived most of her life in Atlanta. She had worked for several years as a dental hygienist with Dr. Virginia Englett. Later, Christina began painting and studied with Mr. Ben Schute. She became a renowned artist and had several of her paintings adorning Atlanta buildings. Mrs. Poulos' many exquisite paintings are a visual pleasure to their many viewers. She painted the double doors of the Agia Trapiza at the Saint Barbara Chapel, and touched up various other icons at the chapel. She had a keen sense of adventure; she loved to travel and traveled extensively. At the Greek Orthodox Cathedral, she was one of the original church festival volunteers, manning the beverage booth with her husband for almost 25 years. She was a perfectionist and excelled in many areas, especially in the area of culinary skills. Christina's legacy to her family is one of spiritual devotion, love, and appreciation of art. The funeral will be held on Monday, November 28, at 11:00 a.m. at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annuniciation, conducted by Rev. George Alexson. The entombment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral's Project Faith Fund or to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home. Visitation will be Sunday evening, November 27, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., with a Trisagion prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at A. S. Turner & Sons on N. Decatur Road.
