Christopher C. Young, age 65, of Mitchell, GA died on November 20, 2009, after a 20 month battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur C. Young and is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pam; two daughters, Mary Brady, and Beth Jones, both of Ballground, GA; five grandchildren; mother, Frances Young of Sandy Springs; sister, Allyson Arbuthnot and her husband Gordon of Indianapolis, IN; nephew Jim and niece Sara. Christopher served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968 at the rank of RM3. He worked for AT&T after being discharged from the Navy and later served for 30 years as a DeKalb County Police Officer, retiring at the rank of sergeant. After retiring from DeKalb County, the family moved to Mitchell, GA in 1995, where he worked for the Glascock County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy from 1995 until 1997. Christopher was an avid fisherman, deer hunter and sportsman. He was a private pilot and enjoyed spending time with his German Shepherd, Lars. Christopher was a member of the Clarkston Masonic Lodge #492, F & AM. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 23, 2009 at 1 PM in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Larry T. Burgess officiating. Interment Crest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 until 6 PM at A. S. Turner & Sons.
