Claire Lynch Lamphere of Atlanta died Monday, February 28, 2005, at age 90. Born in Nashville, Tennessee on August 30, 1914, she was the daughter of John Joseph and Annie Hehir Lynch. A lifelong communicant of the Catholic Church, she was graduated from the Cathedral High School in Nashville and attended Watkins Institute. She taught for 30 years in the Catholic schools of Nashville and at Christ The King and Immaculate Heart of Mary schools in Atlanta. She retired in the mid 1970?s. In retirement, she became an active volunteer with Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home. An accomplished seamstress, she also enjoyed gardening and collecting antiques. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 65 years, Joel Ralph Lamphere. She is survived by five daughters and three sons-in-law, Joanne and Roger Beckham of Nashville, TN, Mary Gail and Frank Chiozza of Memphis, TN, Marilyn Reed of Buford, GA, Claire Murphy of Marietta, GA & Jean and Fred Poggi of Lawrenceville, GA; fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. The family will receive visitors at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 2, 2005. The funeral mass offered by Father Frank Richardson will follow at 12 Noon. Interment will be in Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home, 760 Pollard Boulevard SW, Atlanta, GA 30315 or to the Alzheimer?s Association,1925 Century Blvd., NE Suite 10, Atlanta, GA 30345-3315.
