Mrs. Claire Sims Petersen of Tucker died Sunday, June 3, 2007. She was born May 16, 1936 in Atlanta, attended Bass High School and graduated from Shorter College with an AB degree in Sociology. Mrs. Petersen was an Elder at Shallowford Presbyterian Church and a recipient of a Presbyterian Women Honorary Life Membership. She also served as moderator of the Shallowford Presbyterian Women and an ENABLER for the Presbyterian Women of the Greater Atlanta Presbytery.  She volunteered at DeKalb Medical Center for 24 years and was president of the Auxiliary for 2 years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Steve Hopkins of Tucker and grandchildren Taylor and Laurel; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Lynn Petersen of Winder and grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley, Alldyn, Blake, and Connor;  Mark and Lorie Petersen of Watkinsville and grandchildren, Allison and Eliza; Glenn  and Melissa Petersen of Tucker and grandchildren, Ansley and Baxter; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and John Brooks of Decatur; brother-in-law, David Petersen of Birmingham, AL; sister-in-law, Shirley Petersen of McDonough; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family and close friends will gather for the interment Friday, June 8th at 11 a.m. at Arlington Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Shallowford Presbyterian Church, Dr. Harry Beverly and Dr. C. Gray Norsworthy officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to Heartland Hospice of Conyers or the American Stroke Association. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 7th at A. S. Turner & Sons
