Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Copeland Gorman, age 94, of Decatur, GA died Monday, February 28, 2005 at Hospice Atlanta. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 3rd at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with burial in Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. Dr. John Byers and Rev. James Sanders will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Mrs. Gorman was born June 22, 1910 in Huntsville, AL, the daughter of the late Clara Hildebrand and Oliver Patton Copeland. She was an artist and violinist and taught in the public schools for many years. She graduated from Athens College, Athens, AL and earned a B. A. from Brenau College and a M.A. from Oglethorpe University. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Mrs. Gorman is survived by two nieces, Mary Frances (Eddie) Stell of Hemet, CA and Barbara Tyson (James) Anderson of Signal Mountain, TN; one nephew, Ret. Col. Wallace Stanley (Dot) Tyson of Franklin, TN; great niece, Lori Day; and many other relatives. Memorial may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 458 Ponce de Leon Ave., Atlanta, GA 30308. A. S.
