Clarence Richard Causey

Clarence Richard Causey, Jr., age 86, a recent resident of Decatur, Georgia, and a former long term resident of Montgomery AL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 30, 2013. Clarence, known by friends and family as Richard, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Richard was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, and after serving his country in Hawaii recevied degrees from Birmingham Southern College, University of Alabama, and a doctorate from Auburn University. As a professional educator, he served as a teacher, principal, district assistant superintedent, and eleven years in the Alabama Department of Education where he retired in 1988. He had a love for playing tennis and was inducted into the the Birmingham Southern Sports Hall of Fame, and also an avid fan of golf, football and the Atlanta Braves. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Louise Knighton and Clarence Richard Causey, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Julia Murdock Causey; his children, Nancy Winters (Everett), Cindi Chandler (Jim), Richard Neil Causey, and Scott Causey; his stepchildern, Kristin Price (Jared), Jonathan Pilkerton (Frazier), and Michael Pilkerton (Katie); seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
