Clarice Scoggins Robertson, 93, of Atlanta passed away on Friday, March 30,2007. Mrs. Robertson, a lifelong resident of Atlanta, was born on July 29, 1913, one of nine children of Matthew Isaiah and Jennette Beck Scoggins. Clarice received her Stenography Certificate from Commercial Evening School and worked as a secretary for J. M. Tull Co. In 1941, she married W. Carlton Robertson, Sr. After World War II, she left the business world to devote her life to caring for her husband and their three children. Clarice was active in her church, Immanuel Baptist of Atlanta, for most of her life. She held many leadership positions and in 1999 was recognized for her 73 years service of teaching Children's Sunday School. Many people remember her as their first and best Sunday School teacher. Clarice touched and made a difference in many lives throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Robertson, and her special son, Terry Don Robertson. Clarice was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, George Scoggins, Glen Scoggins, Reba Kootz, Lottie McHorney, Aleph Dooley and Bonnie Mae Terry. Surviving are her son, William C. (Bill) and Mayra Robertson, Jr.; daughter, Connie Robertson; grandsons, William C. Robertson, III and Andrew J. Robertson, all of Atlanta; sisters, June Smith of Clarkston and Tessie Gilbert of Athens; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and countless friends. Friends may visit the family at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, Sunday 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday 5:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home chapel, Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Reverends Mel Sheppard and Alan Burns officiating.
