Claude E. Burns

July 3, 1923 — December 29, 2008

Mr. Claude E. Burns, 85, of Tucker died Monday, December 29, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty M. Burns; daughters, Debbie Burns of Lawrenceville, Sandy Hagge and her husband David of Snellville; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Burns graduated from high school in Hartland, MI in 1940 and went to work for Ford Motor Company until World War II. He served with the Army Air Corps in the Pacific from 1943-46. After his discharge he attended Wayne State University and graduated in 1950. Mr. Burns then went to work for the Burroughs Corp. in Detroit, MI. He was transferred to Decatur in 1954 and later went to work for IRS in the Personnel/Labor Relations Department where he retired in 1986. He served on the Board of the Federal Employees Credit Union (now Associated Credit Union) for many years. He was a fan of country music, the Georgia Bulldogs and loved watching the birds outside and spending times with his cats. He was a devoted husband and father.  A memorial service will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 3rd, Rev. Glenn Ethridge officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to either PAWS of Atlanta or The Salvation Army. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at A. S. Turner & Sons
