Claude O'Rear Bailey

BAILEY -

Claude O. Bailey of Decatur died Sunday, December 04, 2005.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Mitchell Bailey.  Mr. Bailey was an elder, trustee and chairman of the board of Mt. Carmel Christian Church and also served as chairman of the board of Mt. Carmel Christian School.  He also was a trustee of Cincinnati Bible Seminary.  He served in combat during WWII on board the USS Wasp with the US Marine Corps.  He was a longtime member of the Georgia Home Furnishings Association.  He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Luann & Ed Jones of Norcross; grandchildren, Anna & Tommy Simpson of Sugar Hill & Abigail Jones of Duluth; great granddaughter, Emma Jean Simpson; sister, Mrs. June Marlow of McDonough; sisters & brother-in-law, Mrs. Dot Bailey, Mrs. Marguerete Brooks & Mr. & Mrs. Billy (Nell) Mitchell; nieces & nephews, Al & Sharon Brooks, Milton & Patty Shiver, Russell & Mandy Childers, Wes & Darlene Mitchell, Lee & Harriet Moore, Alice Stephens & Bob McAdams; and special friend and companion, Peggy McCord.  Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at Mount Carmel Christian Church with Rev. Seth Wortman, Rev. Jack Ballard, Rev. Mitchell Shiver & Mr. Bill McLendon officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to be made to Northside Christian Church Building Fund, 3535 Shallowford Rd. NE, Marietta, GA 30062 or to the Christian Church Foundation for the Handicapped, PO Box 9869, Knoxville, TN 37940.  The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Monday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
