Clifford Gordon Statham, third son of Richmond Ward Statham & Mrs. Clifford George Statham, entered Heaven gates Tuesday, April 17 at 7:00 Central Time. He was 81 years old. Gordon Statham was born in Atlanta, Georgia January 8, 1926 at Georgia Baptist Hospital. He grew up on Forrest Rd. with his brothers, Norman & Richard, attended Boys? High, & afterwards enlisted in the Air Force. He served as a gunner in the Pacific theatre in Guam & Saipan. After returning home he enrolled at Georgia Tech & graduated in the school of Industrial Management. He played on the tennis team & was involved in several school organizations. Gordon also served in the Federal Bureau of Investigation for three years under J. Edgar Hoover. Gordon married Jane Franklin on March 3, 1951 & after living in Ohio for several years returned to Atlanta where they lived happily for 42 years until Jane went to be with the Lord in 1993. Mr. Statham was employed by the Lockheed Corporation, & then was hired as Chief of Security & Vice President of Personnel at the Munford Company while also pursuing a law degree at Emory University in the late 1960?s. He branched off to pursue his own law career in the early 1980?s. He began his own polygraph school in 1981. He was a federally appointed arbitrator working on criminal cases & national drug cases until the 1990?s when he decided to return to the calmer world of corporate arbitration. He was a member of Cherokee Town & Country Club, Kiwanis, Society of Former Special Agents, High Museum of Art, St. Luke?s Episcopal Church, & enjoyed tennis, golf, & dancing with his many friends. He traveled extensively with family & friends around the world & was always up for a party. He was a wonderful, loving husband, a devoted & very funny father, & an unselfish, generous friend to all. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mr. Statham is survived by his daughter, Cindy Statham Boyer, her husband, Kirk, & children, Eric, Ashley & Rachel, of Nashville, Tennessee, as well as by Gordon Ward Statham, also residing in Nashville [These were his biological children; but everyone knows that Gordon & Jane Statham had many ?adopted? children that spent countless happy hours on Vistavia Circle, their second home ? we love you, Bruce!]. Also surviving is brother, Norman George Statham of Augusta, Georgia. Funeral service will be held at St. Luke?s Episcopal Church Saturday, April 21 at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Atlanta, Georgia. Visitation will be held Friday, April 20th from 2:00 ? 5:00 p.m. at A. S. Turner & Sons of Decatur, GA.
